February half term has arrived in Herefordshire and the countryside is looking decidedly damp – well, more accurately, it’s sodden. The fields are soggy, and the River Wye, Lugg and Arrow are overflowing with enthusiasm (literally overflowing in places). Wellies are very much the footwear of choice. Yet winter at White Heron Estate has its own quiet magic — big skies, dramatic light and that unmistakeable freshness in the air after a rain shower – (every single day).
Wonderful walks with hearty rewards
February half term into March is a great time to embrace the season and explore Herefordshire in winter. Near to White Heron Estate, we have wonderful walks with stunning views. Remember there’s apparently no such thing as bad weather – you just need the right clothes. There are so many high quality restaurants and pubs with hearty, locally sourced menus to reward yourself for the effort.
On the Estate
Back at White Heron Estate, our holiday accommodation in Herefordshire offers the ideal retreat after a day outdoors. Think cosy interiors, peaceful surroundings and the simple pleasure of returning from a countryside walk to warmth and comfort. If you’re planning a spring break in Herefordshire, it’s a wonderfully restorative time to visit.
Looking ahead to spring, our popular e-bike tours return in April. As the orchards prepare to blossom and the lanes begin to dry, exploring the estate and surrounding countryside by electric bike is one of the best ways to experience rural Herefordshire. We can’t run them in winter or we’d need to mobilise the farm vehicles and staff to get the bikes out of the fields…
