Your wedding begins the moment you arrive at the estate. Farm tracks wind past the vineyard and blackcurrant fields, and the world grows quieter with every bend, until it’s just you, the people you love and the soft green hills of north-west Herefordshire.
White Heron Estate is an exclusive-use Herefordshire wedding venue at Lyonshall, near Kington, cherished by the same family since 1876. Walled gardens, orchards and our own vineyard set the scene for rural romance, and every wedding includes three nights to stay, so your celebration becomes a weekend.
The Colloquy, our Victorian chateau, is made for smaller, more intimate weddings of up to 40 guests, perfect for couples writing their second chapter. Marry by candlelight, then spill out into the private walled garden. For a bigger celebration, The Sheriffs, our 18th century country house, welcomes up to 120 guests with a marquee on the lawns.
Both are licensed for civil ceremonies, and you can raise a toast with White Heron fizz from our own vineyard.

YOUR WHITE HERON WEDDING WEEKEND
The best weddings rarely fit into a single day. With three nights included, yours unfolds at its own pace, surrounded by the people you love.
The night before
Gather everyone for a relaxed barbecue, garden games and croquet on the lawn. By the time the sun goes down, both families will feel like one, and the nerves will have given way to laughter.
The morning
Wake in your bridal suite to birdsong rather than traffic. Get ready slowly, with your closest people just along the corridor and no timetable but your own.
THE CEREMONY
Say “I do” by candlelight at The Colloquy, or in the elegant rooms of The Sheriffs. For a fairytale arrival, come by horse and carriage along the estate roads.
the wedding breakfast
Long tables, candlelight and food that tastes of the season, from the caterer you love. Then raise a glass of White Heron Sparkling, grown right here in our own vineyard.
The party
Dance into the evening under festoon lights, with acoustic music in the walled garden at The Colloquy or a marquee party on the lawns at The Sheriffs.
THE MORNING AFTER
No checkout, no goodbyes at the car park. Sleep in, swim in the walled garden pool, or blow away the cobwebs on an e-bike tour through the vines, followed by a tasting of our award-winning Sparkling Wine, British Cassis and Framboise.
By the time you head home, you’ll have shared three unforgettable days with everyone who matters.

Dining and tours of the estate
Let your celebration linger a little longer. Gather everyone the evening before for a relaxed supper, then ease into the morning after with a guided or self led e-bike tour through our vineyards and blackcurrant fields, finishing with a tasting of our award-winning Sparkling Wine, British Cassis and Framboise.
Book a long lunch of locally sourced artisan food among the vines, challenge friends to a match on the estate padel court, or arrive in fairytale style by horse and carriage. Add extra Cassis and fizz for British Kir Royales all round. These are the quiet, golden moments your guests will remember long after the confetti has settled.
